What we do
Institutional Compliance at Imperial ensures that the University adheres to all relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies. This function is crucial for maintaining the institution's integrity and reputation. The Institutional Compliance team works to identify, evaluate, and manage regulatory risks that could impact the University's strategic goals. They develop frameworks and processes to ensure that all departments and staff understand and meet their regulatory obligations, thereby supporting the University's mission of excellence in research and education.
The Institutional Compliance function also provides oversight and assurance to the University Management Board and the Audit and Risk Committee. This involves regular monitoring and reporting on Institutional Compliance activities, as well as advising on emerging regulatory changes and their potential impact. By doing so, the Institutional Compliance team helps the University stay ahead of regulatory developments and mitigate risks proactively. They also collaborate with various departments to ensure that Institutional Compliance measures are integrated into the University's overall risk management processes. The team works closely with the Regulatory Compliance team within the Legal & Regulatory Affairs team and provides complementary oversight for Imperial.
Additionally, Institutional Compliance at Imperial offers support and guidance to staff on regulatory matters. This includes providing information on existing requirements, helping to develop and monitor key risk indicators, and advising on potential institutional compliance issues. The Institutional Compliance team ensures that all staff are aware of their responsibilities and have the necessary tools and knowledge to comply with regulations. This collaborative approach fosters a culture of Institutional Compliance and accountability across the University, contributing to its overall success and sustainability.
